Luton is a lively town, just half an
hour from the country's capital city. At its heart there is the
University of Luton, a modern and forward-looking University
with a growing reputation, not least for excellent teaching
quality. The University has scored consistently high ratings
in teaching assessments carried out since 1995 by the Quality
Assurance Agency. All most recent subject assessments have
been rated 'excellent', placing the University in the top
half of the higher education sector.
In total, there are 13,500 students. Almost half are aged
over 24, and nearly one fifth are international students
from more than 110 countries worldwide.
The University has forged links with more than 2,000 companies
to provide a broad range of training and accredited postgraduate
programmes for industry throughout the country.
The University's research base continues to expand with
growing support and resources. Specialised centres for research
have been established across the University, which enjoy
a national and international reputation. Key research areas
include Childcare, Youth and Crime, Health Services, Media
and New Technologies, and Tourism and Leisure.
